Vision Terminal – Support
Connect Beyond Limits
SSH client for Apple Vision Pro
Thank you for using Vision Terminal! We’re here to help you get your servers running in your space.
Getting started
- Add a connection — tap
+, then enter the host name or IP address, port (default 22) and your user name.
- Choose how to authenticate — password, or an SSH private key you import into the app. Credentials are saved to the visionOS Keychain.
- Connect — accept the server’s host key the first time, and your shell opens in a spatial window.
- Work the way you like — open several sessions as tabs, or detach any session into its own window and place it anywhere around you.
Common support topics
- Connecting: host names, ports, jump hosts and connection timeouts
- Key authentication: importing OpenSSH private keys, passphrase-protected keys, key formats
- Terminal behaviour: ANSI/VT100 rendering, colours, resizing, full-screen apps such as
vim, htop or tmux
- Keyboard & input: the on-screen accessory key deck (Ctrl, Esc, Tab, arrows, function keys) and hardware Bluetooth keyboards
- Voice dictation: dictating commands and reviewing the text before sending
- Windows & tabs: detaching sessions into separate spatial windows
- Feedback & suggestions: ideas to make Vision Terminal better
Troubleshooting
- Check the basics — confirm the server is reachable and that your Vision Pro is on a network that can reach it (many servers are only reachable on a LAN or over VPN).
- Verify the port — if SSH runs on a non-standard port, set it explicitly in the connection profile.
- Authentication failures — re-enter the password or re-import the key. For key auth, make sure the matching public key is in the server’s
~/.ssh/authorized_keys.
- Host key changed — if the server was rebuilt, remove and re-add the connection so the new host key can be accepted.
- Dictation not working — check Settings › Vision Terminal and confirm Microphone and Speech Recognition are allowed.
- Restart the app — close the window fully and reopen it; this clears most transient issues.
- Update — make sure you have the latest version of Vision Terminal from the App Store.
Privacy
Vision Terminal stores everything on your device: profiles locally, credentials in the visionOS Keychain. Nothing is sent to the developer. See the full Privacy Policy.
